Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was missing from Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Salernitana. Manager Luciano Spalletti has offered an update about the player’s condition.
Victor Osimhen is Napoli’s star striker. He was transferred from Lille in 2020 for a fee of around €70 million. Osimhen is 22-years-old. He’s considered one of the most talented African players right now. And, he’s regarded by many as a future superstar.
Osimhen suffered an injury in training that prohibited him from starring in Napoli’s 1-0 victor over Salernitana courtesy of a goal from Polish player Piotr Zielinski. Many feared that the Nigerian striker’s injury might be a serious one.
Manager Luciano Spalletti clearly stated on Monday that this is not the case. “It remains to be seen if Osimhen has to stay out for a couple of games. For Sunday he can also do it, we have a lot of trust in our doctors.”
Victor Osimhen will most likely miss the team’s match against Legia Warsaw in the Europa League though. It is expected, however, that the Nigerian could make a full return for the Partenopei’s match against Verona in Serie A at the weekend.
