Piotr Zielinski, Man of the Match in hammering of Cagliari

Piotr Zielinski put in a stellar performance as Napoli were able to defeat Cagliari 4-1 in their recent away game in Serie A.

Napoli have started out the new year in spectacular fashion. Cagliari became Gli Azzuri’s first victims on Sunday. Napoli, settled in their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation disposed of their opponents by a clear margin.

Attacking midfielder Piotr Zielinski managed to take up the slack fo the continued absence of Dries Mertens by scoring the team’s openining goal. Joao Pedro equalized for Cagliari, before Zielinski, once again, put Napoli up front.

Hirving Lozano made it 3-1, before the team’s most influential player, Lorenzo Insigne, scored from the spot-kick in the final minutes.

Gli Azzuri had numerous opportutinies to score. If the 24 shots on target are any indicator, the game could have been won by an even greater margin.

The latest victory keeps Gattuso’s team in fourth place and on target to take on the battle for the Scudetto well into the second part of the season.
