Pasquale Schiattarella Does Not Believe Napoli Is Going Through a Crisis
Napoli is set to meet Benevento on Sunday in Serie A, but Pasquale Schiattarella does not believe that his team is bound to have an easy time against the Partenopei side.
Manager Gennaro Gattuso and his Napoli side have often been in the news in recent weeks, most often not for the right reasons. Recently, Gli Azzurri lost 2-0 in the first leg of their match against Granada in the Europa League. Unable to find their form throughout the campaign, many in the press have speculated that Gattuso’s time in charge of the team might soon come to an end.
In spite of this, Pasquale Schiattarella, Napoli’s future opponent in Sunday’s Serie A clash, does not believe that the team’s quality has decreased and expects a tightly fought battle.
Schiattarella says that Napoli’s squad contains the kind of players that can determine the fate of a game at any point. The player believes that sub estimating their Sunday opponents could prove a critical error.
The midfielder, who has played 19 Serie A matches for the Stregoni this season, points towards the recent match against AS Roma as proof of the qualities of his own side. In that match, despite going one man down, Benevento was able to hold on to a draw and could have even won the game outright.
Schiattarella has particular admiration for Napoli’s players Alex Meret, who he calls one of the best keepers in Serie A, and Andrea Petagna, a very strong and efficient forward.
Napoli and Benevento play on Sunday at 17.00 local time at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
