Napoli’s Predicted Line-up Against Sassuolo in Serie A

Napoli travels to Sassuolo looking to strengthen their hold on the Serie A top spot at the expense of Sassuolo. These are the predicted line-ups and what to expect.

Napoli will travel to Sassuolo on Wednesday evening, hoping to maintain their three-point lead at the top in the Serie A standings. Although Sassuolo has had a disappointing campaign, Alessio Dionisi’s team moved up to 12th place by collecting four points from their last two games.

Luciano Spalletti will feel relieved after ending a three-match losing streak in all competitions, after Napoli’s memorable 4-0 victory over Lazio. However, Gli Azzurri must continue to fight for its position at the top of Serie A.

Dries Mertens is under pressure to fill the gap left by Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is expected to be out for a couple of months. The veteran forward, however, responded well last Sunday by scoring a first-half two.

Spalletti will also be hopeful that his backline can keep moving on the right track, having kept their first clean sheet since October 31. Five games have been played since then.

While Napoli is performing well, Sassuolo has been putting on a show that is not up to the standards they set last year. It should be remembered that the club is hoping for European qualification this season.

Sassuolo won 3-1 against AC Milan at San Siro, despite going one man down before the Rossoneri had a man sent off. Dionisi is still under pressure at the Mapei Stadium despite victories over Milan and Juventus in recent weeks.

Dionisi is now just three points behind sixth place. He will be hopeful that his team can get back in the mix. A surprise result on Wednesday could put Sassuolo back on track.

The team will hope to make the best of their most famous player, Domenico Berardi. The Italian international scored in his three last Serie A appearances. This brings his total for the season up to seven goals, after 12 starts in the top flight.

Predicted line-ups:

Sassuolo: Consigli; Muldur, Ayhan, Ferrari, Kyriakopoulos; Frattesi, Lopez, Henrique; Berardi, Scamacca, Raspadori

Napoli: Ospina; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Koulibaly, Rui; Zielinski, Lobotka, Ruiz; Lozano, Mertens, Insigne

Sassuolo vs. Napoli is played tonight at Stadio Citta del Tricolore and 20.45 local time.
