Napoli overcome Legia Warszawa to go top of their Europa League group
Napoli has seen the brave challenge of Legia Warszawa in their clash in the Europa League Group C. Luciano Spalletti’s team could rise to the top of the group after this important victory.
Napoli is dealt a difficult set of opponents in their UEL group. Leicester City and Spartak Moscow are the other opponents that the Serie A side is having to face. Following a draw to Leicester and defeat to Spartak, it was vital that Napoli win their match against Legia.
Luciano Spalletti opted to make a number of changes to the squad over the team used in the previous weeks of Serie A. The manager chose to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation, the tactic that’s worked for the Partenopei during past weeks.
Meanwhile, Legia assembled in a 3-4-3 formation. The Polish side opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Mahir Emreli, when his shot went into the upper right corner.
Napoli ended the first half at a disadvantage but managed to even the score in the 51st minute when midfielder Piotr Zielinski converted a penalty. It was from another penalty that Dries Mertens brought the Italian side in front.
In the 78th minute, Hirving Lozano, Napoli’s most anticipated summer transfer put the game beyond any doubt scoring a third for the Serie A side. Adam Ounas added a fourth goal in the 90th minute, only 7 minutes after having substituted Lozano.
The victory puts Napoli in a strong position in the Europa League ahead of difficult matches against Leicester City and Spartak Moscow.
