Napoli Look Likely to Bid for Arsenal’s Defender Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney’s confident performances this season have turned him into one of Napoli’s main transfer targets. With other clubs, according to reports, also interested in the player, Arsenal may be fielding a bidding war soon enough.
The Scottish defender has fought adversity to claw his way into Arsenal’s first team. Good performances especially in recent weeks have made him a starring fixture in Mikel Arteta’s plans. It’s all the more impressive considering that this is Tierney’s first season in the Premier League.
Tierney arrived at the Emirates Stadium last year from Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow. Arsenal paid around £24m to acquire his services.
The good performance he enjoyed in his first Premier League season has caught the eye of Napoli reports the Daily Telegraph. Given the player’s age and his undeniable potential, it is likely that the Gunners would request a hefty transfer fee if they are to sanction the deal.
In the meantime, Napoli is also pursuing Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri for the same position. It is reported that Gli Azzuri will are likely to request a loan deal until the end of the season for the left-back. Bad news for Elseid Hysaj. The versatile player has been, generally, occupying that position throughout the season. Napoli is, however, likely to prefer a more natural fit for that role.
