Napoli Clarify de Laurentiis’ Request to Postpone the Supercoppa Italiana
Napoli has made an official statement the request made by club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to postpone the Supercoppa Italiana that the team will play against Juventus.
De Laurentiis made the official request this week. Previously Italian football officials had taken the decision for the match against Juventus in Serie A to be played at a later date.
The request for the postponement of the Supercup was, however, denied. Since the request received plenty of attention and began a number of rumors, the Partenopei officials have decided to set the record straight.
In an official statement, they motivate the request as an attempt to, possibly, have fans attend the game should Covid-19 related restrictions be loosened by that time.
The match is due to be played on 20 January. Napoli’s request was for the match to be played in late spring, or the summer.
Furthermore, Gli Azzuri officials says that the request was aimed at acquiring more funds that they planned to donate to charities.
Since the official decision is for the match to go ahead as scheduled, Napoli has confirmed that they will be present at the match as per initial plans.
