Napoli Battle AC Milan for Mattia Zaccagni
Rumors are swirling that both Napoli and AC Milan will be battling for the services of Mattia Zacagni of Hellas Verona during this winter transfer window.
Mattia Zaccagni has made quite an impression during this season of Serie A. So much so that two of the league’s biggest clubs look willing to spend the €12m fee that Verona is rumored to be asking for the player.
The attacking midfielder has been perhaps his side’s most influential player this campaign. He starred in 15 league matches for the Gialloblu. During this time he scored four goals, registered two assists, and received numerous praises from the press and from fans.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has already announced that the player has no plans to extend his contract past June 2022. This puts Verona in the position of needing to consider selling him as quickly as possible.
AC Milan may be looking to gain an upperhand in these negotiations. It is rumored that the Rossoneri may also want to sign 20-year-old center-back Matteo Lovato. If the €12m rumored deal goes through, Milan may relent to loan out Zaccagni until the end of the season.
Time will tell how the situation will play out and whether Gli Azzuri will be able to further improve their squad ahead of a difficult second part of the season.
