McTominay tells British Public About Newfound Love for Naples
Former Manchester United holding midfielder has adapted quickly to the standards of his new team, SSC Napoli. In a new interview given to the British press, the Scottsman talks about his profound love for the city that’s been quick to adopt him.
During an interview with the BBC, the Scottish midfielder expressed heartfelt affection for the city of Naples. McTominay has quickly proven himself as a player capable of making a significant difference. He says that he arrived in Naples with the excitement of someone fully aware of joining a prestigious club.
McTominay Is Crazy About Naples
The Scottish midfielder shared his admiration for Naples, describing his decision to join the club as both significant and straightforward. He also touched on the process that led him to the foot of Mount Vesuvius.
“It was an important decision, of course, but also a simple one. Thinking about the fans, the coach, the team, I saw an opportunity in Napoli and accepted it without looking back. I will never have regrets in my life—when I want to do something, it’s done, nothing holds me back.”
McTominay, the City of Naples, and His Bond With Gilmour
McTominay spoke with true affection for the city, also highlighting his strong relationship with national teammate Billy Gilmour, with whom he shares a great understanding.
“I love this place, the fans, my teammates, and it’s a pleasure to spend time with Gilmour every day rather than just seeing him during national team duties. We’ve helped each other a lot.”
The Scottish midfielder also reflected on his final days in Manchester:
“I love United to death; it was my life for 22 years. When I left, I said goodbye to everyone, and it wasn’t easy to leave. But now I’m here, and as I said, I’m enjoying myself a lot. I knew about the Financial Fair Play situation and how difficult decisions can be for clubs when it comes to academy-grown players.
But I never thought about any of that. From the moment I heard about Napoli, my only thought was to come here, meet the fans, the coach, and hope to do well.”
McTominay is likely to be a starting player in Napoli’s Saturday game against Genoa.
