Lobotka to Sign New Three Year Deal With Napoli

It now looks growingly likely that defensive midfielder Stanislav Lobotka will sign a contract extension that will keep him with Napoli until 2025.

Stanislav Lobotka has become central to Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli project. The manager had already expressed interest in the player three years ago when he was coaching Inter. Today, the Slovakian is fundamental for the development of Napoli’s style of football.

His rebirth as a player could also be due to a diet that made him lose nine kilos in just a few months. Gazzetta dello Sport, in today’s edition, writes that the option to extend Lobotka’s contract until 2025 has already been taken.

The article alleges that the 20 million spent on the player, which some criticized Napoli for wasting, have now become a good investment. Lobotka arrived in Naples in January 2020. To date, he has played 40 games in Serie A for Napoli.

It would cost the club less than 2 million net per year to extend Lobotka’s deal. It appears as a good piece of business, one that owner Aurelio De Laurentiis will likely be pleased with. The owner is also very happy with Luciano Spalleti, further adding motivation to extend Lobotka’s deal.
