Kostas Manolas to Be Available for Selection Against Inter?
Kostas Manolas, Napoli’s defender, was unavailable due to injury for the team’s last game, against Verona. According to Il Mattino, the club doctors expect to have Manolas fit for the team’s next fixture, against Inter.
Luciano Spalletti faced a headache in terms of selection against Verona with both Manolas and Kalidou Khoulibaly, regular starting players in the centre of the defence, unavailable. The manager opted for a defensive partnership comprised of Amir Rrahmani and Juan Jesu. The partnership did not work badly, however, this is far from Spalletti’s first choice.
Kostas Manolas sustained a muscle injury during Napoli’s Europa League clash against Legia Warsaw. The Partenopei won that clash by a 3-0 scoreline. Manolas played a good match, earned a yellow card, but was still highly rated.
Napoli could benefit greatly from Manolas’ involvement. This is an important match for a number of reasons. First of all, Napoli who are top of the Serie A table at the moment could lose their lead if they fail to defeat last season’s winners.
Then, there’s also the matter of Luciano Spalletti going head to head against Iter, a team he managed in the 2018/19 season, for the first time since leaving the club.
Napoli will be eager to field their best team against Inter and continue the great season that they have enjoyed so far. Victory against last season’s Scudetto winners would be seen as a massive sign of intent.
