Kalidou Koulibaly Considers Contract and Future With Napoli
Defender Kalidou Koulibaly gave hints that he may be prepared to leave Napoli this summer, adding that updates will soon follow.
Kalidou Koulibaly is linked with a move away from Napoli. The Senegalese defender has told reporters that he does not know where his future lies. As part of Chelsea’s potential huge transfer window, the 30-year-old has been linked to a move to the Premier League. FC Barcelona is also among the suitors.
After Todd Boehly’s takeover, manager Thomas Tuchel is thought to have around Euro 200 million available to him to invest in his squad. To keep the club competitive, the German coach will need to revamp his options. Koulibaly has long been admired in England with many believing that he would make an exciting EPL player.
Kalidou Koulibaly seems to also be Barcelona’s priority for strengthening their central defense. His contract is up for renewal in a year and this represents a great market opportunity. He spoke to reporters after Senagal’s fixture against Rwanda.
“For the moment I will go on holiday to Senegal and later we will see. Barcelona? I can’t say anything. I can’t lie. I have focused on the work with my national team and I don’t want to know anything else. Now we will go to rest and when I return to Europe everything will become known quickly,” Koulibaly told journalists.
Napoli has heard from the player that he is ready to leave the club. Napoli will not accept a free transfer next summer. While the club has rejected several offers over the years, they are likely to acquiesce to selling this year in order to avoid losing the player on a free deal.
Napoli is said to be demanding around 40 million euros. However, Barcelona doesn’t believe the price is fair. They are looking to lower it by offering Pjanic on an exchange. Chelsea may also make their bid soon.
