Inter Likely To Enter Contract Negotiations With Napoli’s Captain, Insigne
The contract of Lorenzo Insigne with Napoli expires in June 2022. While negotiations with the Partenopei are ongoing it now looks like rivals Inter may attempt to persuade Insigne to join the Milan side.
Insigne is one of Napoli’s most succesful players in recent years. A graduate of Napoli’s academy, the winger has made over 300 appearances for the squad. Having just been an integral part of Italy’s squad that won the European Championship, Insigne is on the radar of many top clubs.
Corriere dello Sport reported today that Inter Milan is willing to offer Lorenzo Insigne a contract worth €6 million per year, plus a signing-on bonus of €7 million. The deal would be in effect once the winger’s current contract with Napoli expires.
It was previously reported that Napoli has offered their captain a €7 million contract. Negotiations have broken down for the time being, however, with Insigne expecting an improved deal as a reward for his years of service.
Corriere dello Sport reports that Inter previously offered €15 million in addition to Alexis Sanchez for Insigne’s signature last summer. The deal was turned down, as have offers from the MLS.
Lorenzo Insigne is expected to start for Napoli against Inter Milan on Sunday.
