Gattuso Heaps Praise on Napoli Player: “Zielinski Left Them No Chance”

Napoli managed an impressive 4-1 away victory over Cagliari and Gennaro Gattuso cannot stop praising Piotr Zielinski’s excellent performance.

Zielinski may have just made one of the best performances since arriving at Napoli in 2016. The Polish attacking midfielder scored a brace against Cagliari and was, perhaps, his team’s best player.

It’s been challenging season for the player. With iconic trequartista Dries Mertens, Zielinski has been tasked to pick up the slack. It has not always worked out as expected. On Sunday, however, the player was in magnificent form.

Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso, says that he always expected the player to perform to the highest standard. The manager says that the player’s technique and speed can be enough to destabalize any defense.

Furthermore, the manager believes that Zielinski has everything needed to succeed at the highest level. He adds that part of the decision to stick to the 4-2-3-1 formation relates to the way the Polish player can interact with the striker used in this system.

In spite of the this Gli Azzuri’s manager says that the team must learn to be less wasteful with their chances. Against Cagliari, Napoli registered 24 shots on target.

We can’t create 10 scoring opportunities and take so few of them. Considering all the forwards we are missing right now, we still got into the final third 20 times and lacked determination. That’s what angered me the most, as it’s an issue of mentality.
