Faouzi Ghoulam Undergoes Knee Surgery
Napoli’s left-back Faouzi Ghoulam has undergone surgery after suffering an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament. The player suffered the terrible injury in Napoli’s victory over Bologna at the weekend.
Gli Azzurri’s injury concerns this season seem to be never-ending. Ghoulam gas proven invaluable this season for Gennaro Gattuso’s side and his absence will surely prove a massive blow.
The defender needed to be substituted in only the 22nd minute of the game when Napoli was already 1-0 up. The Naples side eventually won the game by a 3-1 scoreline.
The good news is that the surgery was perfectly succesful. The procedure was carried out by Professor Mariani at Villa Stuart Hospital. His left knee was treated as per procedure and Ghoulam is expected to rest for the next few days.
Ghoulam is one of the players that has been the longest with Napoli. He joined the Italian side in 2014 from Saint-Ettiene. This season he has made 11 appearances, 8 as a substitute, but has generally impressed.
It is yet unclear how much time the left-back will need to spend on the sidelines. Ghoulam suffered a similar injury in his right knee in November 2017 which required the player to be out of duty for several months.
