Done Deal? Gattuso Close to Extending His Contract
Gennaro Gattuso is likely to be rewarded with a contract extension as a reward for the fine form displayed by his side, Napoli.
Gattuso, a relatively young manager took the reins at Napoli back in 2019, replacing Carlo Ancelotti. With the team’s results generally on par with expectations, club officials are anxious to keep hold of the much-praised former football international.
Prior to Napoli, Gattuso enjoyed a tremendous playing career, followed by managerial stints at clubs like Sion, OFI Crete and, most notably, AC Milan.
Italian paper Il Matino reports that Gattuso’s contract would be extended up until the 30th of June 2023. Furthermore, no release clause is to be included in the deal.
Gli Azzuri owner, Dino De Laurentiis is reportedly speaking to his lawyers about the deal. It is expected that he and Napoli’s current manager will meet in the following days to put pen to paper on the new deal.
Manager Gennaro Gattuso is also set to be repaid in financial terms. His new contract will rise to 2.4 million Euro according to the same sources. The contract also includes performance-related bonuses, as well as a favorable deal for the manager’s image rights. Clearly, Napoli believes that Gattuso is the man to guide the team into the future.
