De Vrij Uncertain for Napoli Clash, While Dzeko Set to Miss the Game
Napoli is set to meet Serie A rivals Inter Milan on Sunday, but it looks like the Nerrazzuri might need to start the game without two of their most important players Stefan De Vrij and Edin Dzeko.
Napoli could take a giant step forward in their pursuit of the Scudetto should they win their game against current Serie A champions Internazionale Milano who is currently in third place, seven points behind the Partenopei side.
Inter is set to be the team dealing with the higher number of squad problems. Manager Simone Inzaghi will almost certainly need to field a team that does not include veteran defender Stefan de Vrij. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the manager will replace him with either Andrea Ranocchia or Alessandro Bastoni while maintaining his familiar tactical plan.
It remains to be seen if former AS Roma goalscorer, Edin Dzeko will be fit enough to start the match against Gli Azzuri. The Bosnian was not available for selection when his side played during the World Cup qualifiers, but Sky Sport Italia report that the player may get the green light from doctors before the match.
Dezko has had a seamless transition to Inzaghi’s style of play. The Bosnian has netted 7 goals and provided 1 assist so far this season. According to the website Whoscored, he is Inter’s best-rated player this season, only behind midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Napoli take on Inter at the San Siro stadium on Sunday at 19.00 EST.
