Cajuste to Sign For Napoli. But Is He the Missing Jigsaw Piece?
It was reported on Wednesday that Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, appear to be on the brink of finalizing the signing of Jens Cajuste from Reims.
The player was previously valued at EUR 10 million by the Danish Superligaen team Midtjylland as part of the transfer arrangement that brought him to Reims 18 months ago. Cajuste, who has contributed six goals and one assist, remains under contract with Stade de Reims until 2026.
Cajuste is on the cusp of embarking on an international journey, as he is set to join Napoli’s esteemed Champions League roster. Reports indicate that an accord has been reached between Rudi Garcia’s leadership team and Stade de Reims concerning Cajuste’s transfer. While the specific details of the transfer fee are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that Reims will recoup an amount exceeding their initial investment of EUR 10 million.
Cajuste is expected to undergo medical examinations with Napoli in the coming hours. Esteemed journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the process will culminate in a five-year contract, binding Cajuste to both clubs.
Jens Cajuste will celebrate his 24th birthday on August 10. In the course of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign, he made 31 appearances and contributed three goals for Reims. Prior to his tenure at Reims, Cajuste spent four seasons with the Danish side Midtjylland, following his initial association with the Orgryte youth club.
