Arsenal and Tottenham Not on Insigne’s List According to Journalist

Lorenzo Insigne’s contract with Napoli will end in the summer of 2022. Journalist Antonio Giordano reveals that the winger has told him that he will not consider moves to Arsenal, or Tottenham, labeling them to be below his ambitions.

Insigne has recently become a European Championship winner. He’s won more than 50 caps for Italy. And, he’s Napoli’s captain and, arguably, their most influential player having started his career at the Partenopei back in 2010.

Understandably, the winger has high expectations about either a contract extension with Napoli or a move to another club. According to Corriere dello Sport’s Antonio Giordano, if forced to leave, Insigne would only opt for one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Speaking to Area Napoli, Giordano claimed that Insigne confided in him that he would not choose a club such as Arsenal or Tottenham as his future destination. According to Giordano, the Italian international does not view the two London clubs as top-tier clubs.

Corriere dello Sport’s reporter then went on to list Manchester United, Paris Saint-German, or Bayern Munchen whose ambitions matched Insigne’s. However, he contends that being forced to move to a foreign country, and learn a new language may impact the player’s decision over leaving Italy.

It’s expected that contract renewal talks will restart this winter. Until then, Lorenzo Insigne is expected to start for Napoli against Inter, another team reportedly interested in the player.
